Authorities are investigating the fire as an antisemitic hate crime, with detectives probing potential links to an Islamist group known for its previous attacks.

The fire, which erupted in Golders Green—a neighborhood with a significant Jewish population—destroyed the emergency medical vehicles and caused explosions that shattered windows in nearby homes. Fortunately, no injuries were reported. Assistant Commissioner Mark Rowley of the Metropolitan Police confirmed that counterterrorism officers are leading the investigation, although the incident has not yet been classified as a terrorist act.
CCTV footage captured three individuals in dark clothing approaching the ambulances, allegedly carrying a canister prior to the outbreak of flames. The police have yet to make any arrests but are actively seeking the suspects.
“We are pursuing all lines of inquiry, including a claim of responsibility from a group with potential Iranian state links,” Rowley stated, referencing a video posted on social media platform Telegram by Harakat Ashab al-Yamin al-Islamia.
