Olympic Debut Yields Gold for Team USA in Figure Skating

O’Shea noted the dramatic change from his experience in the 2018 Pyeongchang Olympics as an alternate, where he watched from the sidelines. “Now, sitting here as the attraction, it’s kind of a fun experience,” he said.

O’Shea had retired from skating in 2020 to work in real estate and coaching, but he felt the pull to compete once more and stepped in to practice with Kam when she needed a new partner. “I went to the Pyeongchang Olympics as an alternate and sat on the outside of the aquarium looking in,” he explained. “Now, here I am, able to compete and make a difference.”
