New child stars dazzle in NASA’s Webb Area Telescope picture of the Lobster Nebula

CAPE CANAVERAL, Fla. (AP) — Hundreds of new child stars sparkle and dazzle within the newest snapshot by NASA’s Webb Area Telescope.

Launched this week, the image supplies a panoramic view of a close-by star-birthing middle, 5,500 light-years away. A single light-year is 5.8 trillion miles.

In addition to child stars in quite a lot of sizes and colours, the picture reveals a dramatic cloud of star-forming mud and gasoline. This cloud — the so-called Lobster Nebula — is so large that it spills past the digital camera lens. The cluster of toddler stars, named Pismis 24, is situated deep inside.

Launched in 2021, Webb is the biggest and strongest telescope ever despatched into house. It views the universe within the infrared, spending greater than 5 hours to seize this one shot.
