Two years after US-based Neato Robotics closed up store in 2023, its robotic vacuum cleaners have reached the top of the highway (or quite, hallway). Customers are receiving emails notifying them that their Neato robovacs will now not have entry to cloud companies, which means they will’t be managed by the robots’ MyNeato app anymore.
In an e-mail obtained by The Verge, Neato Robotics defined the choice to customers, stating, “Since Neato ceased operations in 2023, Vorwerk has continued sustaining the Neato cloud platform to honor the unique five-year service promise. Nevertheless, cybersecurity requirements, compliance obligations, and laws have superior in ways in which make it now not potential to securely and sustainably function these legacy techniques.”
The top of cloud assist means Neato’s robovacs will now solely work in guide mode, which means no extra customizing your routines or controlling your robotic from the MyNeato app.
Sadly, this doesn’t precisely come as a shock, since Neato, which was acquired by Vorwerk in 2017, introduced earlier this month that it will likely be phasing out cloud companies for its robovacs. This comes simply two years after it promised clients it will proceed to assist the vacuums for 5 years.
