The Federal Communications Fee has alerted the Walt Disney Firm and its ABC unit that it’s going to start an investigation into the variety, fairness and inclusion efforts on the media large.
The FCC, the company that regulates the media and telecommunications business, mentioned in a letter dated Friday that it desires to “make sure that Disney and ABC haven’t been violating FCC equal employment alternative rules by selling invidious types of DEI discrimination.”
“We’re reviewing the Federal Communications Fee’s letter, and we stay up for partaking with the fee to reply its questions,” a Disney spokesperson advised CNBC.
FCC Chairman Brendan Carr, who was just lately appointed by President Donald Trump, started the same investigation into Comcast and NBCUniversal in early February. The inquiry comes after Trump signed an govt order trying to finish DEI practices at U.S. companies in January. The order requires every federal company to “establish as much as 9 potential civil compliance investigations” amongst publicly traded firms, in addition to nonprofits and different establishments.
