Peru declares emergency and deploys military


LIMA, Peru (AP) — Peru’s president declared a state of emergency within the capital Monday and ordered the deployment of troopers to assist police deal with a surge of violence, amid widespread outcry a day after the killing of a preferred singer.

President Dina Boluarte’s authorities revealed a decree saying that the state of emergency will final 30 days, and authorities will limit some rights, together with the liberty of meeting and motion.
