A Pennsylvania police officer was killed whereas responding to a capturing on Saturday at a hospital in York County, Pa., through which the gunman, who held hospital workers members as hostages and restrained one with a zipper tie, was killed by the police, the authorities mentioned.
The officer, Andrew Duarte, who served within the West Borough Police Division, had responded to a name to the hospital, UPMC Memorial, the borough mentioned on Fb.
“Our hearts break on the harmless lack of life,” the assertion mentioned, including that the West Borough Police Division had “misplaced a comrade and pal.”
Officer Duarte was one in all three cops struck by the gunman, who officers later recognized as Diogenes Archangel-Ortiz, 49. The opposite two officers have been in secure situation.
Three hospital workers members — a physician, a nurse and custodian — have been wounded and have been in secure situation, officers mentioned. One other workers member was damage in a fall. No sufferers have been injured.
